This corner of the Yorkshire Dales offers so much for the visitor. The landscape itself is stunning, of course, ranging from wild, rugged moorland to lush, broad meadow-filled valleys. There are also lesser-known, tributary dales which many people never even discover - dales of steeply wooded slopes, rushing streams and waterfalls.

Wensleydale has long been a favourite with walkers and cyclists and indeed the Pennine Way passes through the Dale, as does the Yorkshire Dales Cycle Way. But there are so many other ways to while away the time here that you may find you are spoilt for choice! Fishing, wind surfing, potholing, pony trekking, bird watching are just a few of the outdoor activities you can enjoy here.

Wensleydale is the ideal base for touring; pretty villages of stone cottages, village greens, bustling markets, antique and other speciality shops, pubs and cafés – and around every corner is another fabulous view! You can even pop over to the Lake District for the day and still be back in time for tea. Or visit the elegant spa town of Harrogate and treat yourself to morning coffee in the famous Betty's Tea Rooms overlooking the Stray.
